Seth Houston
choral conductor and composer
Seth is a D.M.A. student in Choral Conducting at the University of Southern California, where he studies with Jo-Michael Scheibe, Morten Lauridsen, Nick Strimple, and Magen Solomon. Houston also holds a M.M. in Choral Conducting from the University of Colorado and a B.Mus. in composition from Oberlin, and directed high school and middle school choirs for eight years in New Hampshire, California, and Colorado.

Seth's composition Snowflakes, for SATB chorus with flute, cello, and piano will be published by Santa Barbara Music Publishing later this year.
Seth's composition Let Peace Begin with Me won the USC Children's Composition Competition and will be premiered at the USC Neighborhood Children's Choir Festival on March 11.
Seth presented a paper entitled "Restoring Self through an Exotic Other: Orientalism and the Poetic in Robert Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri" at the Pacific Southwest Chapter meeting of the American Musicological Society on February 13.
  Seth's composition Big Sky was performed by the Wisconsin Little Ten All-Conference Honors Choir, conducted by Randall Swiggum, on February 12.
  Seth's composition Emerald Stream was performed in seventeen performances by the Christmas Revels (Cambridge, MA) in December 2009.
  Seth's composition Barnet was recorded by Prairie Harmony on their 2009 CD Prairie Harmony of Southeast Iowa.
